Aww, now you all with think this one is quite sweet because it's from one of my very own flesh and blood Aunts!

My Aunt Patti asks:

Your Aunt Julianne says you have been successfully promoting yourself. I could use a few tips now that I am creating ceramic shoes as art sculptures. I plan on donating one to a local charity (Women in Distress - safe haven for domestic abuse) for their fundraiser. Lots of high society publicity on the social scene should put me on the map. Any other suggestions?

Answer:

The best way to get it out there and noticed is slap pictures of your art all over the internet. I must say in the past few years this has become one of my expertise/obsessions. (So, I have a lot of ideas for you, yay!)

1. Websites/networking sites like Etsy.com and Deviantart.com are great tools for promoting and selling your stuff and networking with other artists too.

2. Maybe you can start a Wikipedia page about your art with a little bio of info incase someone Googles your name/art name. It's very important that when you are "Googled" your info and how to get ahold of you comes up at the top of the search page so you may want to start a website with contact info and prices. There are a lot of free "make your own" websites that are very user friendly.

3. Research some magazines that are geared toward your art and send them some pics and a small bio.

4. Start an email under the name you decide for your sculptures so it sounds professional when contacted.

5. Market your art toward locations where people you believe will truly love it! You can research that just by simply looking on the internet for people who are doing similar art and see where they are from and if they look successful in their area.

6. Play "Ask Seanna" and mention your artwork so your neice can show it off to her friends and fans!! That's right folks, my Aunt is super talented and creative so keep an eye out for her awesome scupltures!

I think your ceramic shoes you have been making are amazing and am so glad you've found an art form (amongst your many artistic talents) that speaks to you and inspires you.

Love you so much Aunt Patti!!!

(And thanks Aunt Julie for noticing my hard work is paying off, I hope I make you all proud! Love you!)
